At its meeting on February 16-18, 2011, the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) removed Phillips Graduate Institute from Probation and imposed a Warning. This action means that the Commission found that Phillips had made progress in addressing the matters that led to its being placed on Probation but that it continues to be out of compliance with one or more Standards of Accreditation.
The Commission reviewed Phillips under its Handbook of Accreditation and found that was out of compliance with elements of Standard 3 (Developing and Applying Resources and Organizational Structures to Ensure Sustainability). This action was taken following a special visit to Phillips on November 9-11, 2010 and a review of the visiting team's report.
There will be a follow-up visit in fall 2011 to review the College's progress in addressing Commission concerns. The institution will be given an opportunity to respond to the Commission concerns both in writing and before the Commission at its meeting in February 2012.
This action is subject to a right of review under the WASC Policy on Commission Review Process.
The Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities accredits 162 baccalaureate and graduate degree-granting institutions in California, Hawaii, Guam, and the Northern Marianas Islands. The Western Association of Schools and Colleges is one of seven regional accrediting commissions and is recognized by the United States Department of Education.
This statement has been reviewed and approved by the institution.
