Retreat on Student Learning and Assessment, Level II

  • October 16 -18, 2008 - Irvine, Ca

Workshop facilitators Mary Allen and Amy Driscoll will lead this intermediate-level retreat designed for those campuses that have broad assessment systems in place and that have had experience closing the loop based on assessment findings. The retreat provides support specific to the goals of participating teams.

Each team will be expected to share two promising practices from its own campus experience. Campus contributions may include the following:

  • How the campus infrastructure has been adapted to support the culture of evidence
  • Successful strategies for engaging faculty and other campus professionals in assessment
  • A specific assessment study, including description of data collection, data analysis, and the impact of the study
  • How the culture of evidence has been incorporated into program reviews
  • How the campus assures assessment quality

Presentations, discussions, and plenary sessions will focus on issues related to team goals and may include topics such as designing tests, conducting focus groups, assessing critical thinking, closing the loop, content analysis, scoring rubrics, and organizing the campus infrastructure to support the culture of evidence.

Registration fees: $500/individual or $475/team member.
